Preparing for Battle

Woah... so before I go on to the main portion of this blog entry, I just gotta say: waking in BC is amazing. I am in awe of what God has made, and it makes me wonder how anyone can deny His existence. But then again, the reason people deny God is because they don't want to live a life in submission to Him. It's more comfortable that way (or so they think).

Preparing for Battle

The past few days have been a whirlwind of activity: touring Vancouver, watching a live performance of White Christmas (which was amazing), eating more new foods in one time than I've had in who-knows-how-long, visiting my new Sista's, attending a variety of events, and fighting to add some sense of order into my chaotic new room (that battle's half-over), but the battle that the title speaks of is something completely different...

Today John took me on a tour of my new school (which is absolutely beautiful, by the way). At one point he needed to take a restroom break, so I just read random notices on the wall. Then I noticed the school clubs (Clubs created to help give a sense of belonging to the students). There was basically a club for each area of study (i.e. library club, theatre arts club, etc.), and only a few extra clubs on top of that. Do you know what those clubs were? A gay club and an athiest club! Okay, I'll admit I completely expected there to be a gay club (sad)... but an athiest club? Do athiests really need to share what's going on in their lives with one another, encourage one another to press deeper into godless lives, all the while giving thanks to random chance (thanks, Kris)? It just seems weird for there to be a club devoted to people who DON'T believe in something. It'd be like me starting a club for people who don't believe in Unicorns. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but it shocked me. What shocked me further was that there was NO Christian group. While Christianity is never popular in University, you can still usually find a Christian group of some sort within the school. Nothing. So strange. But then another thought started budding in my brain "You should start one". I dunno... I'll pray about it. Perhaps God wants me to start a Christian club to help fellow believers in the school connect and encourage one another. Either way, seeing those clubs reminded me of what a University can be like and that I need to start preparing for battle.

Love you all!

The Move

The blog you are about to read has been created for the purpose of keeping my family, friends and enemies (not that I have any) aware of my goings-on in Abbotsford.

The Move

The trip was an absolute blast! The three of us (Vic, me, and our GPS, which we lovingly named Gail Prudence Seville) left at 7 am on Monday morning. The majority of our trip was spent singing at the top of our lungs (worship music, a variety of musicals, the Beatles, and Queen) consuming a steady diet of grease, salt, and fat (as one does when on a road trip), and wondering how on earth Faintheart (from the story of Affabel) could be surprised that Slander said nasty untrue things about her... or that Mr. Double-Life wasn't exactly what he appeared to be (in a world where someone's name clearly shows their biggest sin issue, you'd think people would catch on. Apparently not).

Driving in the mountains is amazing, though I must admit that Vic did all of the BC driving. As soon as we switched, the accelerator stuck. This was, of course, a little frightening. Upon switching again, the accelerator acted normally. Heh, what are the chances that that would happen only for the fifteen minutes I drove in BC? Odd.

Also, Vic was a little angry at Gail as we went backwards on a road (which still has no discernable purpose as far as I can tell) for 14 miles before getting back on the Highway we were supposed to be on. I tried accepting the blame, but the grudge still continues.

Quick Tidbit: We saw a very Canadian movie at a hotel we stopped at called "The Wrong Guy" (the name of the movie, not the hotel). Too funny.

Now we're finally in Abbotsford. I've still got to properly move everything, find out how to get around in this city, get ready for school, find a church, and find out where things are in this house... but everything will be figured out in time. I need to patient.

Thanks to everyone for praying for safety for us as we travelled out there. God protected us, and I greatly look forward to whatever He has for me to do here. Love you all!
